Jack Simonds

Inspired by the enigmatic shapes found in nature, biomorphic artist Jack Simonds creates immersive environments that actively engage individuals with their surroundings. As our relationship with nature undergoes continuous reassessment, Simonds explores art and design’s potential to transpose the nurturing qualities of raw forms and materials, envisioning a future rooted in aesthetic harmony and interdependence.

Captivated by nature’s mysterious forms, Simonds seeks to incorporate and reimagine them within human-made environments. He combines raw and synthetic materials to craft functional objects where nature’s organic essence harmonizes with the constructs of the artificial world. Surreal functional sculptures emerge from stone, wood, metal, and found natural materials, resembling vibrant, alien-like creatures. Each creation contributes to a larger, evolving narrative, inviting viewers to intuitively ponder their significance in the space, as they mimic the vitality of living organisms.

Simulating nature’s interconnectedness, Simonds’ creative process thrives through interactions with his community of friends, artists, and creatives who gather in his studio in Brooklyn, a place of wonder where art, nature, and design merge seamlessly. Their participation is essential to the evolution of Simonds’ work, as it provides the necessary creative input to craft his symbiotic vision between human, non-human, and artificial entities. Upon entering the studio, visitors are projected into a place of wonder where surreal elements engage in unspoken dialogues.
