In ancient Greek mythology, Zeus' love for the Ganymedes symbolizes a sophisticated emotion intertwined with appreciation and possessiveness. The ancients applied mythological figures as a carrier and the allusion reflects human desires and obsession with beauty.
In traditional Asian concepts, love and desire are always regarded as hidden and repressed emotions, which are unspeakable topics. Conventional society has forced individuals to struggle between self-discipline and self-expression. They have to examine themselves constantly.
However, for thousands of years, concepts have been gradually converting. Objective Gallery is pleased to present the group exhibition "The Rumors Are True" which includes works of our artists and designers from all over the world. The black iron net elements from the exhibition design demonstrate the theme that a new principle is breaking through the "imprisonment" and "shackles" of the feudal ideology and the social environment.
Moreover, the exhibition also attempts to express queer culture and love in the traditional sense, human desire and pleasure, bondage and discipline. Our artists incorporate their feelings into the artworks, gradually sculpting their exquisite sensations into physical existence. In this diversity of expression, the audacious forms and the artists' restrained creative means eventually merge in the reality space. Their opinion exudes truth and nature, emphasizing the recognition of self-identity. May everyone have the strength to coexist with prejudice, to tolerate and accept when faced with rumors.
